Kitchen Aid Redo

Tonight I decided to clean my kitchen... Once I picked up my kitchen aid I decided it needed a little work.

About a year ago my Mom found my kitchen aid at a yard sale for like 10 bucks!! It was almost new, just a few blemishes and was missing the bowl. My sister had an extra bowl and gave it to me. What a steal right?!

This year my sister gave me a vinyl wall hanging for my birthday (its called dandelion swirls by wall accents). I've been trying to find a place to put it and finally decided to put it around my kitchen aid! Here's the results! Let me know what you think!!

Yesterday was a little stressful at work. So after work I decided to treat myself to a little splurging at one of my favorite stores "Bath and Body Works". I bought this..

Simply amazing! Seriously I loved it!! It is a black face mask. Yep not green or pink or clear but black. It is also peel off. And it is only 3 for $10. So you can get 3 of them. Its a great deal. The only thing I don't recommend is putting it on while your dog is asleep. When he wakes up he will freak out and bark and act all sketchy. Then as you peel it off he will look at you like this...

In my family August is the biggest Birthday Month!

The 7th I celebrated Steve's 30th. Yep folks.. He's officially old. Still has is hair and good looks though! :)

The 10th was my wonderful Mom's Birthday. Unfortunately the only other pictures I have of my Mom are for blackmail purposes only.

Be glad I didn't post them Mom! I will have to take some nice ones soon!

On the 14th was Jason's Birthday. We had a great BBQ with our awesome cousins.

I am officially back. I don't really have a good reason for my absence.. other than I just didn't feel like it. Life has been.. well life. I haven't done anything out of the norm. Just work. Boring yes. I have a bit of catching up to do for August (according to Melissa) So excuse the excessive posts. Also due to some unwanted readers (did I just say that?! I never thought Id say something like that!!) I won't be updating as much. This might change but right now I think it is for the best. For those of you closest to me I might be starting a side-blog.. Yes I am a Blog Slacker the past few weeks! I promise to get better! This week has been especially hard, between work, family, and Bruce I have been so busy!

Unfortunately with how busy life has been, I have had a few not so awesome things happen.

Like...

Getting a ticket because You can't find your insurance paper. Awesome.

But on the other hand...

I am so psyched that it is finally Summer! I have the cleaning bug... not just cleaning everything but deep cleaning my room. I'm also planning on doing a bunch of furniture re-dos! I can't wait!

While cleaning I found a note my Niece Mickenna wrote me for Easter. She knows how much I love owls so she drew me some and put it in the note! I love it!

Haha I love them!

Since it is summer I decided to jump on the Raw lifestyle. I have been trying to be atleast 50- 70% raw every day. I have had a few days where I didn't but again I'm "easing" into it!

A few of my Summer Must Haves..

*Coconut water-Seriously best stuff ever! It doesn't taste like coconut so don't go buy one thinking it'll be like a smoothie. It is 100% natural. It tastes like a "thick" water. I really like it but others are on the fence.. But I promise if you drink it.. You will INSTANTLY feel awesome! It is the best way to get hydrated! It has more electrolytes than sports drinks and more potassium than 2 bananas. Its awesome!

*Bath and Body works True Blue Spa All Angle Airbrush Tan. It rocks. Enough Said.

*Larabars. They are a must have for a Raw diet. They are so delicious!

*Maybelline's Matt Mousse Foundation- I absolutely hate wearing makeup during the summer. I feel like I'm sweating it off and it just looks like a smeared mess. I tried this a few months ago and I absolutely love it! I feel like it gives you a tan beautiful glow! Who doesn't love that?!

The Fox and the Hound

The Bruce and I have been sad. Last Wednesday our sweet little Dutchess died. It has been pretty rough, especially for Bruce. He has been sleeping with his new toy "Foxie" and Dutchess' bone and leash every night. The picture is exactly how he sleeps. Foxie is always on top of him.. how cute is that?! He carries them around the house all day. It breaks my heart. Dutchie was so sweet and was our best friend. She was a Princess to the core. She even sat with her legs crossed and looked like she wore high heels when she walked. She LOVED clothes. I bought her a st patties day shirt as a joke and she carried it everywhere wanting someone to put it on her. She loved to cuddle, and was always smilling (her lips never could fully close so you always saw her teeth) She was so smart and always greeted us with a song bark!

We miss her very much!

I try not to have too many dog posts but its so hard when my dogs are so strange..

Yesterday I was playing catch in my room with Bruce when I noticed that Dutchess was feeling a little left out so I said "K Dutchie Im throwing it to you" (yes I talk to my dogs) So I throw it to her and instead of jumping up to catch it with her teeth she did this...

She caught it with her paws! I have never seen anything like it! I don't know where she learned it from but she keeps doing it! It is so funny!! I wish I had a way of recording it.

I'm so glad to be home! Today has been great. I worked 12 hours straight!! It helps having 2 jobs that you absolutely love when you have to pull a double shift. Im so blessed for that! Today My Roommate Teresa and I went on an adventure to Mendon (a neighboring town) She is doing an assignment for her class and needed a story.

For those of you who have been to Mendon, you already know that nothing goes on there.

Our first hit was at the Post Office where we found this:

I love it.

In case you cant read it,

it says "They are either both girls or both boys"

It took everything I had not to call these people and ask.

The rest of the trip was pretty quiet.

We saw some wild Turkeys in someones yard,

Some amazing homes.

Hung out at the Cemetery reading about the pioneers and finding the oldest headstones.

And of course captured the patriotic spirit of mailboxes.

I am so lucky to have gotten most of my furniture for FREE. It has been so much fun using what I've been given and change it to fit my style. I'm not gonna lie.. Sometimes when I look though the Ikea catalog I wish I could have everything.. but then again I love that all of my pieces are totally uniquely mine!

Onto the Post!

My whole life I have heard the phrase "One mans trash is another mans treasure" well I'm pretty poor so I decided to take this phrase to heart and try to make due with what I have or what has been given to me! All of my furniture has been handed down to me by members of my family! I'm so thankful to all of them for their generosity!

Now for the fun part!

Before and After's

As much as I love Pink... I love Black even more! I love Modern clean lines. The mirror above is a full length mirror (the kind you get at Walmart. I got it for free too a few years ago from a friend) I have plans to change the knobs to Glass ones on top and White squiggly bars on the bottom.

GALLERY WALLS have always been my very favorite!! I absolutely LOVE them!!

THE BED:My sister's in-laws were going to send this bed to Deseret Industries. My sister didn't really want them to because its still a good bed and the mattress and box springs didn't have any holes or anything. I didn't really need a bed but my roommate Ashley did. I hadn't seen the bed yet but decided to take the gamble and see what I could do! It is a Double bed which is way better than my old twin.

I'm not going to lie... I was very hessitant when I actually saw the bed. I wasn't sure what I could do with it. My brother-in-law Dan didn't want me to paint it but my sister finally convinced him. Thank Goodness! This was what it looked like before.. Brown, Black, and Gold Indian print. It is Metal so I grabbed my bottle of Spray Paint and well.... see for yourself..

Oh the Miracle of Spray Paint!I can't even tell you how shocked I was that it turned out so good! I love it!!

Remember the mirror from that dresser?!

I love it more when its separated!! Oh and is that gift wrap?! Sure is!

I love my picture heart!

My Favorite thing I've redone is my desk. This desk was my Mom's old sewing desk. It was a gross pale yellow. Now its Apple Green with Pink and White Damask on top.

Since the "official" spring cleaning week was 2 weeks ago (2nd week of march) I have the day off so I thought I'd start right now. I know, I know cleaning on a Sunday isn't exactly making Sunday a day of rest. But I've decided it has to be done and I'm not going to treat it like a chore. Today will be enjoyable.

It has been a rough month at our house. We welcomed a new roommate in and we love her! I have been so busy with family, work, and other things, Teresa has been the same way. Need-less-to-say our house is filthy! Id post pictures... but I just don't think I can own up to them just yet. By the end of the week I hope to walk in our house, look around, and NOT think about cleaning!

For example:

All-Purpose Cleaner

2 cups vinegar
2 cups water
20-30 drops of essential oil

Combine in a spray bottle. Label.

Today is my very favorite holiday!

I don't know why.. just is. Probably the best St. Patty's day was a few years ago when Justin and I went to "USA vs Canada Ultimate combat experience" AWESOME. It was way fun! Justin did not wear green.

I wore a green headband..it totally counted :)

Last year I played "crazy pet owner" and bought Bruce a hat and Dutchess a little T-shirt. He absolutely hated the hat but Dutchess loves clothes. Every morning she would bring me this shirt and lay so still while I put it on her.

She's such a girl, and a cute one at that!

Blogging Tutorial: How to make a blogger Button

I am all about DIY! Why pay someone if you can do it yourself right?! Blogging is fun and great but its even better if your blog is cute! A friend of mine asked if I would share some tips and tricks to the blogging world. First up is How To Make A Button. Its really not as hard as you think.. just follow these easy steps and you'll be a pro. Once you've created your button send me a link to your page I'd love to add it to my FREE Advertising section! Also if you'd like to be featured on this blog just comment or send an email to Shelayna@marykay.com

Step #1

Decide what you want for your button whether it be a picture/just words/etc.. Anything can become a button. Most important you want it easy to read. Pick fonts and pictures that are clear and simple.

I chose to do a simple quote with a picture.

"Ruadh gu brath! " It means "Redheads forever!"
I chose to edit my picture in paint.

Step #2

Once in paint use the sizing tools to make your picture under 200 x 200 Most sidebars are this size so its good to make it under. The ideal size would be 150 x 150. I chose to keep the picture rectangle.

Step #3

Host your picture. I chose Photobucket.com I think it is the easiest.

Once you've uploaded your image click on it to bring you to a page that looks like this.

Pay special attention to this portion

Keep this open but then also open notepad or word

Step #4
Creating your HTML code.

This is the hardest part so read closely. Copy this code and replace where it says yourblogURL with your blogs URL (web address). Also replace where it says yourimagedirectlinkURL with the direct link URL in photobucket (the quotation marks are necessary).

My code looks like this:

Step #5

Once you've got your code ready log into blogger.

click the design tab

Add Gadget to wherever you'd like the button. Most go into sidebars.

Select HTML/Java Script

Insert code

Click save

View blog.

This week I had a goal to not share any You tube videos. However, this one I feel is a good exception. Its about being alone.

This is a concept I learned a few years ago when I moved into my very own apartment. It was a HUGE leap of faith for me. It was when I really got into blogging. I spent a lot of time alone. It was hard.. but it was worth it! I grew up.

I learned how to be comfortable with myself. There were days when I sat on my couch and hoped my phone would ring or get a text/email/anything! For the first month or so I left my computer on all day and night playing music/tv shows/ anything, just so I didn't feel as lonely.

One day, out of nowhere I didn't need it anymore. I felt good. I even got to the point of taking days off from technology, shutting off my phone for a day, taking walks & runs without a music player, and reading. I grew a lot! I got to know myself better than ever!

Anyways check it out!

Photoshop is the best tool anyone could have!

It is worth the money.. I promise!!

For example..

It helped me take this picture..

(A complete disaster if I do say so myself.)

And with a little time and effort.. turned it into this picture.

**I am going to put a warning on this.. Photoshop is hard. Its not something you can just pick up in a day and become an over night sensation! It takes years and years of practice. If you are looking for a quick fix.. try an online editor they are simple and easy!
